Whisk & Paddle: Glasshouse Cafe Opens at Bukit Batok
Whisk & Paddle is not new to the local F&B scene, having operated out of it’s Punggol outpost for years now.
It’s out of the way location though, for me at least, meant I never visited more than once.
Happily, Whisk & Paddle has popped up on the other side of the island with a new glasshouse space just opposite the Bukit Batok Driving Centre!

And while the Punggol riverside outlet offers alfresco dining, this new outlet is fully air-conditioned.
Stepping in, this space is properly huge, and it can easily accommodate groups of various sizes.

Mind, despite the high ceiling, the cafe does get pretty noisy when it’s full house.
Whisk & Paddle has a pretty impressive menu— with starters, bar bites, brunch items, pizzas, mains, pastas and desserts, alongside a kids menu.

As we were heading for an afternoon pick-me-up, we zoomed straight into the desserts, and ordered the Raspberry & Vanilla Tart (S$9.80), Warm Chocolate Fudge Cake (S$6.80), Caramel Latte (S$6.80), and an Iced Matcha Latte (S$7.80).
First, the Raspberry & Vanilla Tart provided a nice balance of flavours, with the sour twang of the raspberry cutting through the sweetness of the vanilla nicely. Unfortunately, the biscuit base and tart shell was over baked, making it difficult to cut through and tough to bite.
The Warm Chocolate Fudge Cake was pretty good, and offered layers of molten chocolate in the cake sponge. The chocolate wasn’t too overbearing, but I was more impressed with how moist and dense the cake sponge was.
There is a whole range of beverages on offer here, and coffee is reliably good.
My only gripe was that my Iced Matcha Latte was really sweet though— a case of adding a little too much sugar syrup, perhaps?
Overall, I can see Whisk & Paddle’s second outlet being a huge hit.
Even on a weekday afternoon, almost all the tables were full.
The fact it’s a standalone glasshouse makes it a bit different from many other cafes.
With so much real estate and a dedicated parking space just in front (albeit actually for the yet to be open Bukit Gombak Park), I won’t be surprised if many start flocking here for a brunch fix, especially since there isn’t too much competition around.
However, that’s not to say that Bukit Batok doesn’t have it’s fair share of exciting new eateries, with Éla and Coexist Coffee Co having opened within the past few months, and are well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
