Chez Suzette: Gorgeous New Parisian Cafe at Keong Saik
If you’ve been vicariously travelling via cafes, you’ll probably have heard of Simple Cafe for a slice of Taiwan, Éla for Greek vibes, and Kurasu or Hvala for cafes that transport you straight to Japan.
A newcomer along the bustling Keong Saik area is Chez Suzette, a French style cafe sitting along Teck Lim Road.
You’ll find wide-open glass windows bathing the space in natural daylight, with seating available both in and outdoors.

Minimalist vibes abound with cream-coloured walls complemented by rattan furniture.
Started by a husband and wife duo, Suzette and her partner Jonathan met while working at 3 Michelin Star restaurant Joël Robuchon.
With Chez Suzette, they wanted to create a space that feels homely.
There is a second floor currently undergoing renovation, so dining is restricted to the ground floor for now.
Mind, news of Chez Suzette’s opening sure has spread, with diners packing in this space and queues forming by 12 noon on a weekend.

The brunch menu, which is available from 8:30am to 5:00pm, is relatively simple.
There’s the Egg Mayo Croissant (S$8), Avocado Toast (S$14), Pancakes with Berries (S$16), Homemade Granola Bowls with Yoghurt (S$13) etc.
Simple, yes, but at least they’re priced relatively reasonable, considering dining at a cafe these days seems to be reaching the S$30 mark.
Unfortunately, as this was their first weekend brunch service, they were overwhelmed with orders and ran out of many items by 12:30pm, and was coupled with a relatively long wait for the food.
Thus, we settled for the Dippy Eggs with Toast Soldiers (S$8), which was cute, but essentially just boiled eggs on toast, so it tasted exactly as you can imagine. The toast looked a little underwhelming too when it was first presented on the table.
After which, they had to open up selection to the dinner / a la carte menu, and so I got to have the Mustard Chicken (S$28) instead.
The chicken was not too bad, served on a bed of buttery mashed potato and topped with mustard sauce. The mustard wasn’t too overwhelming, and I’m not usually a big fan of the condiment.

They do have a selection of pastries on the counter as well.
Over on the drinks menu, they have smoothies, juices, coffee and tea.
I had an Iced Flat White (S$6.50) which was served beautifully in aesthetic glassware.
Coffee wasn’t too acidic, and registered more on the milky side of things.
Whilst it’s obvious there are teething issues, that’s something I’m willing to forgive, especially since the staff and owners were genuinely apologetic and came up to the table to explain and provide alternatives.
After all, it was their first weekend brunch service.
With a couple more weeks of experience, i’m sure they’ll have a better grasp of stock and inventory levels, and as it stands, it is a pretty promising place.
It’s a gorgeous space, service is great, brunch dishes are simple but at the very least reasonably priced, so it’s not hard to see why they’ve already become such a hit with crowds.
