DAWN: Rustic Japanese-Style Coffeehouse at Clarke Quay

Pulling inspiration from overseas is not new as a cafe concept, but it’s always exciting when a new one appears because it’s almost guaranteed to go viral these days. Just like how the stark maroon and white Coexist Coffee Co brought to mind cafes in Seoul, which my friends referred to as “that TikTok cafe,” a new one making the rounds is the Kyoto-style DAWN.

Located on South Bridge Road, DAWN only accommodates a very limited number of diners, with counter seats, stools backed up against the wall, and a sole, bigger table all the way inside.

You’ll be greeted with a rustic, industrial interior bathed in warm light, which is an interior style I’m a massive fan of these days.

You’ll find bakes and drinks over on the menu, and the bakes are all made in-house!

We had an Iced White (S$6.50) and White Chrysanthemum Cold Brew Tea (S$7).

Their espresso-based drinks use a single origin roasted by The Community Coffee, and I definitely tasted bright and fruity notes.

The cold brew tea was delightfully refreshing as well, and the chrysanthemum came through pretty strong.

We tried the Apple Crumble (S$6) which was beautiful. It was delightfully buttery and served warm; the crispy top layer pairing perfectly with the base.

DAWN is a lovely space to while away the afternoon, coupled with a rustic industrial interior which is bang on trend.

In saying that though, friendlier or warmer service certainly wouldn’t go amiss, especially given how cosy the space is.
